Youth Personal Worship: (U-Mix)

(Submitted by Travis Jenkins)

Ephesians 4:6
6 one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

I love to cook; something I gained from my dad. My mom likes to cook and is a good cook, but my dad loves to come up with new recipes and try things out he sees on cooking shows. I am the same way. If you know anything about cooking then you know that a recipe is often made up of multiple ingredients. When you mix the proper amount of each ingredient at the appropriate interval and cook it at the correct temperature and right amount of time then you can turn a bunch of random ingredients into something that tastes awesome!

When I look at a cake that is baked I don’t see individual parts of it such as flour, eggs, baking powder, etc. I just see the cake. The ingredients are over, through, and in all of the cake. I can’t just place all of the ingredients in a pan and expect them to come out looking like a cake though. I have to first mix them together.

There is a tendency to treat our relationships with Jesus like a cake that you don’t mix up. We put part of our “school life” over here and keep it separate from our relationship with Jesus. We close off our “Friday and Saturday nights” from Jesus because we don’t want them to mix. We act a different way when we’re on the football field because we’ve never let Jesus come anywhere close to the sidelines.

The truth is, if you want to let God, the ONE true God transform you into the person He has created you to be you can’t keep him separated into different parts of your life. You have got to let Him be over all, through all, and in all of your life.

ASK
What areas of your life have you not yet let God into, as He needs to be?

PRAY
Spend some time praying that God would fill up every area of your life and confessing to Him the areas you have kept Him out of.

DO
Make a commitment to have a noticeable change in the area of your life where you had kept Him out before. If it was school, maybe you can start a Bible study before class; if it was the weekend, maybe you say no to those parties; if it’s the football field, maybe you become a witness to your teammates instead of just another one of the guys.
